Representatives of General Motors in Korea and "Uzavtosanoat" in Uzbekistan, signed a memorandum under which the joint venture «GM Uzbekistan" will start production of a new mini-car Chevrolet, designed primarily for emerging markets. Representatives of General Motors has not said which model will be produced in Uzbekistan, perhaps it is a city hatchback Chevrolet Spark next generation, which was presented last March at the Motor Show in Geneva. In Europe, this car is offered with petrol engines in 1.0 and 1.2 liter capacity of 70 and 78 horsepower respectively. This step will allow «GM Uzbekistan", a joint venture between GM and "Uzavtosanoat" in Asaka, Uzbekistan, produce and sell a new mini-car Chevrolet, designed for fast-growing markets in the region. At the moment «GM Uzbekistan" produces and markets such models as the Chevrolet Matiz, Lacetti and Captiva. Plant «GM Uzbekistan" was founded in March 2008. GM share in the authorized capital of the company is 25%, other 75% belong to "Uzavtosanoat". Annual production of «GM Uzbekistan" is 250 000 vehicles. Automobiles manufactured in the factory, sold in Uzbekistan within the sales of GM and are exported to neighboring countries.
