Joint venture "GM-AvtoVAZ" started to produce an improved model of Chevrolet Niva. As reported at the plant, the new car is different from its predecessor, reduced noise, improved ride and handling. On the upgraded version of the "Niva" set drive shaft with constant velocity joints, transfer case with double-row bearings, output shafts, as well as upgraded gearbox lever. This, as well as some changes to mounting heat shield, should reduce the noise of the engine, including while it is running at 3500-4000 rpm. To improve ride and handling engineers at the plant increased the rigidity of suspension arm axes. In addition, during the upgrade was "improved corrosion protection as interior elements fixing the car, and details of hood space - the battery plate, cylinder, clutch, power steering mechanism of the body, wiper blades." Chevrolet Niva is available from 2002. In March 2009, factory "GM-AvtoVAZ" has begun production of a restyled version of the "Niva", but then the changes were purely design. Last year, the car entered the top ten best selling models in Russia, with 24.5 thousand cars sold.
