Chevrolet postpones release of the open Camaro

Management of General Motors has decided to postpone the debut of the year the open version of the sports coupe Chevrolet Camaro, which was originally scheduled for mid next year. As the American edition of Motor Trend, citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation, the reason for this decision served as the global financial crisis and financial difficulties concern GM, which still can not allocate the necessary amount of funds for completion of the Camaro Convertible. Recall that in the middle of this year, vice president of Chevrolet Ed Peper (Ed Peper) presented the first official photos of the preproduction sample Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, which, in fact, was ready for mass production car, but still held developmental testing. Product convertible will receive a soft folding roof and will be offered with a six-or eight-cylinder petrol engine producing 270 and 400 horsepower respectively. As previously reported, the production of the first Chevrolet Camaro without a roof was due to begin next year at the factory of the American brand in Canada, where he planned to annually produce up to 100 thousand of these machines. It is worth noting that the company Chrysler has refused to release an open version of the coupe Challenger, which is a competitor Camaro. The reason is the same as in the case of the convertible Camaro - a lack of funds to develop such a modification.
